IPL facials are gentle though amazingly effective, making them the choice if you are after long-term skin health.

Red Veins: Everything You Need to Know About IPL Treatment

Red veins. Broken capillaries. Those stubborn little lines can make your skin look flushed or uneven. Whether you’re dealing with a few tiny veins around your nose or more extensive redness across your cheeks, there’s a solution: Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) therapy.

What Exactly Are Red Veins

Red veins are also known as spider veins or telangiectasia. While they’re usually harmless, they can be cosmetically bothersome.

Common Causes of Red Veins:

Sun Damage: Overexposure to the sun can weaken your skin and blood vessels, leading to red veins.

Genetics: If your parents have visible veins, you might, too.

Ageing: Skin naturally thins over time, making blood vessels more noticeable.

Rosacea: A common skin condition that causes redness and visible blood vessels.

Environmental Factors: Extreme temperatures, wind, or irritants can aggravate blood vessels.

Lifestyle Triggers: Excessive alcohol, spicy foods, or even stress can exacerbate redness.

These veins don’t disappear independently, but IPL can offer a long-term solution.

How Does IPL Work? The Science Behind the Magic

BEFORE                                              AFTER

IPL therapy uses light pulses to target red veins beneath the skin’s surface. The light energy is absorbed by the red pigment (haemoglobin) in the blood vessels, causing them to heat up and collapse. Over time, your body naturally reabsorbs these broken vessels, leaving your skin clearer and smoother.

After the Procedure:

Redness and slight sensitivity are typical for a day or two.

Some clients notice dark spots temporarily darkening before flaking off—a sign that the treatment works.

Avoid direct sun exposure, and always wear SPF to protect your healing skin.

Most clients see noticeable results after 2–5 sessions, with improvements continuing over several weeks.

FAQs About IPL Red Vein Removal

Q: Does IPL hurt?

A: Most people describe the sensation as mild discomfort. A cooling gel helps minimise this feeling.

Q: How long do results last?

A: Results can last for years with sun protection. However, new veins may form due to ageing or lifestyle factors.

Q: Can IPL treat other skin concerns?

A: Yes! IPL effectively reduces age spots, sunspots, freckles, acne and unwanted hair.

Q: How much does IPL cost?

Depending on the treatment and area, call or text 07984514992, or you can view all our treatments and prices on our website, www.aspenbeauty.co.uk

ROSACEA

Church Road

Stannington

Northumberland

NE61 6HQ

07984514992

www.aspenbeauty.co.uk

Rosacea affects a large proportion of the nation in varying degrees. Visible red veins and broken capillaries characterise it,

redness and sometimes bumpy, uneven skin.

IPL ( Intense pulse light treatment is a very effective noninvasive solution for managing Rosacea symptoms.

BEFORE

                                                              AFTER

In this blog, I will discuss the benefits of IPL Rosacea treatment, the procedure and cost at Aspen Hair and Beauty, and why it would be the right treatment choice for you.

So, what is IPL Rosacea treatment?

It is a noninvasive ( no needles or incisions) light-based treatment targeting the effects of Rosacea using broad-spectrum light. It effectively reduces facial redness, spider veins, and flushing episodes and diminishes thickened or bumpy skin, revealing a smoother, more refined surface.

How does it work, though?

The technical term is photo-thermolysis, which means that the light produced in IPL is absorbed by the haemoglobin in the blood and melanin in the skin. This process safely destroys the dilated blood vessels without damaging the surrounding skin.

Over time and a course of treatment, the body's immune system clears the damaged vessels, reducing the signs of redness and visible veins.

As with all IPL skin treatments, there is a bonus in that the IPL stimulates collagen production, resulting in improved skin texture and elasticity.

The benefits of this treatment are many. It is very effective at targeting and dilating blood vessels, reducing the redness responsible for facial flushing—a common and often embarrassing symptom for Rosacea sufferers. There is minimal downtime following treatment, with any heat and redness displayed in the area dissipating after a few hours.

Following a course, This treatment's results can last for months, with regular maintenance sessions further prolonging its benefits.

By reducing the symptoms and treating the cause of Rosacea, confidence will improve, and self-esteem levels will soar.

Now that I have decided on treatment, what do I do next?

Call or text 07984514992 to book your complimentary patch test and consultation. During this time, we can carry out a skin analysis and formulate a bespoke treatment plan to optimise your requirements.

Most clients require 4-6 treatments spaced at 3 weeks apart, followed by regular maintenance appointments every 6-8 weeks.

Though no one, including medical professionals, can completely eliminate Rosacea, IPL is an excellent results-driven procedure that can dramatically reduce and dissipate its signs.

Why have IPL treatment rather than medication or topical creams?

IPL can target specific areas of concern, leaving the surrounding skin unharmed and ensuring safe and effective treatment.

Medication and topical creams can affect a person's physiology and sensitivity levels, especially to the sun and certain cosmetic products, causing allergic reactions.

At Aspen, we formulate a bespoke treatment especially for you to optimise your results.

Ipl n toy not only treats Rosacea but also rejuvenates the skin. At the same time, treatment stimulates collagen production for a more even, clearer complexion and smooths out fine lines and wrinkles.

Numerous studies and years of clinical use have proven that IPL is one of the most effective treatments for Rosacea.

So how much will treatment cost?

Aspen's treatment costs range from £55-85 depending on the area treated.

Finally, it is essential to point out that Rosacea is a chronic condition rosacea where IPL can improve, manage and contain but cannot cure the underlying cause; therefore, maintenance treatments, as mentioned previously, may be required.

SEMI PERMANENT TATTOO EYEBROW REMOVAL

Semi-permanent eyebrow tattoos—have been a game-changer for enhancing natural beauty and saving time on makeup routines.

However, though there are many good SPMU artist out there, there are equally some horror stories leaving their mark permanently.

Whether the colour has faded unevenly or the shape wasn't right for your face, the good news is that you don't have to live with brows you're unhappy with. With advanced ND YAG laser removal techniques, we can eliminate the unwanted look forever at Aspen.

Why do people remove their brows?

Brows are one of the most defining features of your face, and when they don't look right, it's hard to feel confident.

Unwanted Shape: The arches may be too high or too low.

Pigment Problems: Over time, pigments can fade to unnatural shades like grey, blue, or red.

Poor Technique:

If the eyebrow was applied poorly by the technician and the shape was not complimentary.

Change in Style: Your preferences and face shape evolve; what worked years ago might not suit you now.

Don't worry—you're not alone, and there's a solution.

How Are Semi-Permanent Eyebrows Removed? - Laser Removal

Laser removal is among the most popular choices, mainly using Q-switched or Nd: YAG lasers.

How It Works:

The laser emits pulses of light that target the pigment in your brows.

The pigment particles break down and are gradually flushed out by your body's immune system.

Safe for most skin types when performed by a trained professional.

Effective on various pigment colours, including darker and stubborn shades.

It is minimally invasive with little downtime.

How many sessions will I require?

Multiple sessions (4–6 or more) are usually needed for removal.

After each session, the area may be slightly red or swollen but heals quickly.

A non-laser alternative, ideal for those with light pigments or contraindications to laser treatment.

It can be effective for minor adjustments or fading brows for correction.

What to Expect During the Removal Process

Consultation First:

At Aspen, consultation and patch tests are free of charge. They allow you to ask questions and determine if the removal method is correct.

During this consultation, we will assess

The type of pigment used.

How deep the pigment was deposited.

Your skin type and overall health.

4-6 sessions spaced at 5 weeks apart will usually be enough to ensure complete removal

Aftercare is Crucial:

To ensure your skin heals beautifully:

Avoid touching or picking at the treated area.

Follow Aspen's instructions for cleaning and moisturising.

Use sunscreen to protect the area from UV damage.

A: The treatment targets the pigment, not your natural hair. Q:

Q: Can all colours be removed?

A: Laser treatments are highly effective for darker pigments like black and brown.

Laser Nd: YAG Tattoo Removal - Everything you need to know

What is Nd: YAG Laser Tattoo Removal?

Nd: YAG, a type of laser commonly used in dermatological and cosmetic procedures, emits light at specific wavelengths (1064 nm and 532 nm) that effectively target tattoo pigments in the skin. It is safe and effective on tattoos of all colours without damaging the skin. The 1064 nm wavelength removes black, blue, and dark-coloured tattoos, while the 532 nm wavelength is effective against red, orange, and yellow pigments.

How Does It Work?

Laser removal is called selective photo-thermolysis, which breaks down tattoo ink without damaging the surrounding skin tissue.

The laser emits short bursts of high-intensity light that penetrate the skin to reach the tattoo pigment.

Ink Fragmentation: The energy from the laser is absorbed by the tattoo ink particles, causing them to heat up and shatter into smaller fragments.

Natural Elimination: Over weeks, the body’s immune system gradually removes these ink fragments via the lymphatic system.

Multiple sessions are required for removal, as tattoos are typically layered with ink of varying depth and density.

Benefits of Nd: YAG Laser Tattoo Removal

  • Effective for Multiple Colours

  • Safe for Various Skin Types

  • Minimally Invasive

  • Proven Results

  • Customisable Treatments

The Tattoo Removal Process

Consultation

At Aspen Hair and Beauty, consultation and patch tests are free. We will photograph and evaluate your tattoo and skin type. The process begins with a consultation, during which a dermatologist or laser technician evaluates your tattoo and skin type.

Preparing for the Session

On the day of treatment, you’ll wear protective eyewear, and we will clean the Area.

Laser Application

The laser is directed at the tattoo, delivering quick pulses of light.

Post-Treatment Care

After the Session, the treated Area may appear red or swollen, typically subsiding within a few days. Applying ice packs and a soothing ointment can help.

Follow-Up Sessions

Tattoo removal requires multiple sessions spaced a minimum of 5 weeks apart to allow the skin to heal and the body to clear away ink particles. The total number of sessions depends on the tattoo’s size, age, and colour.

Factors Affecting Results

  • Tattoo Age

  • Ink Type and Colour

  • Black and dark blue inks absorb laser energy more effectively and are easier to remove. Light colours like green, yellow, and white can be more challenging.

  • Skin Tone

  • Tattoo Placement

  • Tattoos on areas with good blood circulation, such as the arms or chest, tend to respond better to laser removal.

  • Individual Health

  • A strong immune system can expedite removal by efficiently clearing ink fragments.

Risks and Side Effects

Although  rare, each individual can react differently to treatment - here are a few of the side effects :

  • Skin Irritation: Redness, swelling, and blistering are common but temporary.

  • Pigment Changes: Hypopigmentation (lightening) or hyperpigmentation (darkening) may occur.

  • Scarring: if aftercare instructions are not followed.

  • Incomplete Removal: Certain colours or deeply embedded ink may not be entirely removed.

Aftercare Tips for Optimal Results

  • Keep the Area Clean: To prevent infections, gently wash the treated Area and avoid exposing it to dirt or bacteria.

  • Avoid Sun Exposure: Protect the Area from sunlight to reduce the risk of hyperpigmentation.

  • NEVER Pick at Scabs: Allow any scabs or blisters to heal naturally to avoid scarring.

Cost of  Tattoo Removal at Aspen

Our costs range from £25-£150 per Session, depending on the size, complexity, and number of sessions required.

BALAYAGE COLOURING TECHNIQUE EXPLAINED

Aspen Hair and Beauty

Church Road

Stannington

NE61 6HQ

Tel or text 07984514992

At Aspen, we LOVE this relatively new colouring Effect, which adds depth and dimension or brightness to the mid-lengths and ends. It is—the perfect maintenance colour technique.

So what is Balayage?

Balayage is a colouring technique that involves hand-painting highlights or lowlights onto the hair to create a natural, sun-kissed look. ( Balayage is a French word which means to sweep or to hand paint )

Key Features of Balayage:

Natural Effect:  creates soft, blended highlights.

Low Maintenance: Since the highlights are applied gradually and don't start right at the roots, there's no harsh line of regrowth, which means minimal upkeep.

Customisable: Balayage can suit any hair colour, length, or texture. Versatile

Application: It enhances the natural texture and movement of hair in various styles, including straight, wavy, or curly.

How It's Different from Other Highlighting Techniques:

Traditional Highlights: Involve wrapping sections of hair in foil to create a uniform, streaky Effect. Balayage, on the other hand, is more natural and blended.

Ombre Creates a distinct gradient effect where the hair transitions from darker roots to lighter ends, while balayage focuses on scattered, lighter strands throughout the hair.

THE IMPORTANCE OF A HEALTHY DIET FOR OPTIMAL SKIN

Healthy diet for skin.

Caring for your skin is not just about using the right products or following a skincare routine. Your diet plays a crucial role in maintaining healthy, glowing skin. Eating a balanced and nutritious diet can help you achieve optimal skin. In this blog post, we will discuss the foods that can help you maintain healthy skin.

  1. Fatty fish

Fatty fish like salmon, mackerel, and herring are rich in omega-3 fatty acids for healthy skin. Omega-3s help to keep your skin hydrated and reduce inflammation, which can lead to acne and other skin conditions. They also protect your skin from damage caused by the sun's harmful UV rays.

  1. Berries

Berries like blueberries, strawberries, and raspberries are packed with antioxidants, which protect your skin from damage caused by free radicals. Free radicals can damage your skin cells and cause premature aging. Berries also contain vitamin C, which is essential for collagen production. Collagen is a protein that gives your skin its elasticity and keeps it looking youthful.

  1. Nuts and seeds

Nuts and seeds like almonds, walnuts, and sunflower seeds are rich in vitamin E, an antioxidant that protects your skin from damage caused by free radicals. They also contain essential fatty acids, which help to keep your skin moisturised and prevent dryness.

  1. Leafy greens

Leafy greens like spinach and kale are rich in vitamins A and C, essential for healthy skin. Vitamin A helps to repair and maintain skin tissue, while vitamin C is necessary for collagen production. Leafy greens also contain antioxidants that protect your skin from damage caused by free radicals.

  1. Avocado

Avocado is rich in healthy fats, which help to keep skin moisturised and prevent dryness. It also contains vitamins E and C, which protect skin from damage caused by free radicals. Avocado is also a good source of biotin, essential for healthy skin, hair, and nails.

  1. Sweet potatoes

Sweet potatoes are rich in beta-carotene, which is converted to vitamin A in your body. Vitamin A helps repair and maintain skin tissue and protects skin from damage caused by the sun's harmful UV rays.

  1. Water

Last but not least, drinking enough water is essential for healthy skin. Water helps to keep your skin hydrated and prevent dryness. It also helps flush toxins out of your body, leading to clearer skin.

In conclusion, maintaining a healthy diet with the above foods can help you achieve optimal skin. Remember also to follow a regular skincare routine that includes cleansing, moisturising, and sun protection to maintain healthy skin.

DO IPL FACIALS WORK ON WRINKLES

Does IPL work for wrinkles?

IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) treatments are generally more effective at addressing issues related to pigmentation, redness, and vascular concerns, rather than deep wrinkles or fine lines. At the same time, IPL can improve overall skin texture and reduce some signs of aging. Here's how IPL can impact wrinkles:

  • Superficial Wrinkles: IPL may help with fine lines and superficial wrinkles, particularly those caused by sun damage. The light energy stimulates collagen production, leading to firmer, smoother skin.

  • Collagen Stimulation: IPL can stimulate collagen production, gradually improving skin texture and elasticity. Over time, this may reduce the appearance of fine lines.

  • Combination Treatments: Some practitioners combine IPL with other procedures, such as pigmentation damage, red veins, rosacea, and acne, to address both problem areas and wrinkles simultaneously. This combination approach can offer more comprehensive results.

  • Multiple Sessions: Notable wrinkle improvements often require multiple IPL sessions, and the results may become more apparent with continued treatments.

If your primary concern is wrinkle reduction, you may want to explore other treatments specifically designed for that purpose, such as:

  • Fractional Laser Resurfacing: This treatment targets wrinkles and fine lines by creating controlled micro-injuries in the skin, stimulating collagen production and skin renewal.

  • Botox or Dermal Fillers: These injectable treatments can effectively reduce the appearance of wrinkles by relaxing facial muscles or adding volume to the skin.

  • Chemical Peels: Certain chemical peels, such as those containing glycolic acid or TCA (trichloroacetic acid), can improve skin texture and reduce the appearance of fine lines.

It's essential to have a consultation at Aspen to discuss your specific skin concerns and goals. We can recommend the most suitable treatments or combinations for addressing wrinkles and achieving your desired results.

How to prepare for IPL/Laser at Aspen

How do I prepare for an IPL treatment?

Preparing for an IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) treatment is essential to ensure the procedure is safe and effective. Here are some steps to follow when preparing for an IPL treatment:

  • Consultation: Schedule a consultation with a qualified practitioner specializing in IPL treatments. Discuss your specific skin concerns, medical history, and treatment goals during the consultation. The practitioner will assess your suitability for IPL and provide a personalized treatment plan.

  • Avoid Sun Exposure: Before the treatment, minimize sun exposure and use sunblock with a high SPF on the treatment area. Sunburned or tanned skin can increase the risk of side effects, so it's essential to have a natural skin tone.

  • Discontinue Tanning Products: Stop using self-tanning products or tanning sprays at least two weeks before the procedure.

  • Avoid Certain Medications and Products: Some medications, skincare products, and supplements can increase the risk of side effects. Follow your practitioner's guidance on discontinuing specific drugs or products before treatment.

  • Shave the Area: If you're receiving IPL hair removal, shave the area the day before or on the day of your treatment. This ensures that the IPL energy is directed at the hair follicles beneath the skin rather than the visible hair above the skin.

  • Avoid Skin Care Products: On the day of the treatment, avoid using skincare products, makeup, and creams on the treatment area. Your skin should be clean and free from any substances that may interfere with the treatment.

  • Remove Jewelry and Makeup: Remove any jewelry or makeup from the treatment area before the procedure.

  • Dress Comfortably: Wear loose, comfortable clothing to your appointment, as you may experience mild redness or swelling after the treatment.

  • Arrive with Clean Skin: Arrive at the clinic with clean skin in the treatment area, free from any lotions, creams, or oils.

  • Plan for Recovery: Depending on the intensity of the treatment and the area treated, you may experience redness and mild discomfort immediately after the procedure. Plan to have some downtime or consider scheduling your treatment when you can take it easy for the rest of the day.

It's important to closely follow specific pre-treatment instructions, as we provide guidance tailored to your individual needs and the type of IPL treatment you receive. Properly preparing for your IPL treatment can help ensure the best possible results and minimize the risk of side effects.

How is Rosacea treatment carried out at Aspen Hair Beauty and Laser / IPL

*How is IPL rosacea treatment carried out at Aspen Hair, Beauty and Laser clinic.

IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) therapy is a common treatment for rosacea, a skin condition that causes redness, flushing, and visible blood vessels on the face. IPL therapy uses a device that emits a range of light wavelengths to target the redness and blood vessels associated with rosacea.

The IPL device emits a series of high-intensity pulses of light that penetrate the skin and are absorbed by the blood vessels, causing them to shrink and collapse. This reduces the redness and flushing associated with rosacea.

During the IPL treatment, the patient's eyes are protected with safety goggles, and a cooling gel is applied to the skin to help minimise discomfort. The IPL hand piece is then applied to the skin, delivering short pulses of light to the affected area. The treatment usually takes about 10-20 minutes, and multiple sessions may be required to achieve optimal results.

After the treatment, a small number of clients may experience mild swelling, redness, and discomfort, but these side effects usually subside within a few days. Clients are advised to avoid sun exposure and to use sunscreen regularly to protect their skin.

It's important to note that IPL therapy is not a cure for rosacea though IPL facials can dramatically maintain improve the appearance of the skin.

The benefits of IPL treatment for Rosacea

IPL treatment for Rosacea.

Facial redness, spider veins, and rosacea IPL treatment

Facial redness, spider veins, and rosacea are common skin conditions that can be treated with Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) therapy. IPL uses high-intensity pulses of light to target and reduce the appearance of these conditions.

IPL works by emitting a broad spectrum of light that targets the melanin in the skin, constricting the blood vessels and reducing redness. For spider veins, the heat from the light causes the veins to collapse and fade over time.

Before undergoing IPL treatment, it is important to consult with a dermatologist or qualified skin care professional to determine if it is the right treatment for you. They will evaluate your skin condition and medical history to ensure that IPL is a safe and effective option.

During IPL treatment, the skin is first cleaned and a cooling gel is applied to the treatment area. The IPL device is then applied to the skin, emitting pulses of light that target the affected areas. Patients may feel a mild stinging sensation during the treatment, but it is generally well-tolerated and does not require anesthesia.

After IPL treatment, patients may experience mild redness, swelling, and darkening of the treated areas, which typically subside within a few days. It is essential to avoid sun exposure and wear sunscreen to protect the skin during healing.

Multiple IPL treatments may be necessary to achieve optimal results, and maintenance treatments may be required to maintain the treatment's effects over time. Your skincare professional will develop a treatment plan tailored to your needs and goals.

Which type of Rosacea am I experiencing ?

Rosacea is a common skin condition that primarily affects the face and often manifests in various ways. There are several subtypes of Rosacea, including:

  • Erythematotelangiectatic Rosacea: This subtype is characterized by persistent redness (erythema) and visible blood vessels (telangiectasia) on the face. It may also cause flushing and a sensation of heat.

  • Papulopustular Rosacea: This type involves redness, swelling, and acne-like breakouts (papules and pustules) on the central part of the face. It can be mistaken for acne.

  • Phymatous Rosacea: This subtype is less common but can lead to skin thickening, especially around the nose (rhinophyma), making it appear enlarged and bulbous.

  • Ocular Rosacea: In this form, symptoms primarily affect the eyes, causing redness, dryness, irritation, and sometimes blurred vision.

  • Granulomatous Rosacea: This rare subtype results in complex, yellow or brownish bumps on the skin.

It's important to note that individuals with Rosacea may experience a combination of these subtypes, and symptoms can vary in severity.

AFTERCARE FOLOWING IPL HAIR REMOVAL TREATMENT

Exfoliating after laser hair removal is essential for several reasons:

  • Preventing Ingrown Hairs: Exfoliation helps remove dead skin cells from the surface, which can otherwise trap newly growing hairs and lead to ingrown hairs. Exfoliating reduces the risk of ingrown hairs and the associated discomfort.

  • Maximizing Results: Exfoliating can help remove any remaining treated hair follicles more efficiently. This can enhance the effectiveness of the laser hair removal treatment, ensuring that fewer hairs regrow.

  • Smoothing the Skin: Exfoliation can make your skin feel smoother and more radiant. It can help remove dry or flaky skin, leaving a healthier complexion.

  • Reducing Skin Discoloration: Laser hair removal can sometimes cause temporary skin discoloration or darkening. Regular exfoliation can help even skin tone and reduce these discolorations over time.

  • Enhancing Product Absorption: If you use skincare products, exfoliating can improve their absorption into the skin. This allows any post-laser treatment creams or lotions to work more effectively.

  • Maintaining Long-Term Results: While laser hair removal offers long-term hair reduction, it's not always permanent. Exfoliating can help keep your results by preventing hair follicles from regenerating as quickly.

However, it's essential to be gentle when exfoliating after laser hair removal, especially in the treated areas. Avoid harsh or abrasive scrubs, as they can irritate the skin. Opt for gentle exfoliants, and follow your Aspen skin specialist post-treatment care instructions for the best results.
