Hair loss - Is your hair shedding more than normal?

There are many reasons why this may be happening.one of which can be the change in seasons.

Our hair sheds every day as pat of the hair growth cycle. depending on hair type and thickness it is completely normal to lose 50 - 100 hairs per day.

What can impact on your hair?

  • Healthy lifestyle

  • Getting enough sleep

  • Eating correctly

Factors both inside and outside of the body can affect the amount and severity of hairs shedding.

Stress

This can affect hair loss dramatically (unfortunately adding to your stress) when we’re under stress the levels of cortisol (stress hormone) is increased

Growth cycle

The shedding can occur 2-6 months after giving birth however in an extremely high percentage of cases - try to find ways to deal with the stress and get a good nights sleep

Nutrition

hair has a vigorous metabolism and high cell turnover  - the key is to eat a balanced diet with protein and fatty aside, vitamins and minerals

 Illness

illness can also affect the hair growth cycle as can certain medication, this can last 4-6 months but once recovered the increase in shedding will cease.

Pregnancy

Post partum hair loss is a type of hair loss which occurs after giving birth and is a result of a severe shift in the hair once the hormones have settled down the hair will grow back

Brushing and styling

always use a wide tooth comb to detangle freshly shampooed and conditioned hair. using a brush can put too much strain on the hair shaft and follicles causing breakage and extreme shedding.
